MONDAY & FRIDAY (6:30-7:30AM)
Begin the day with a revitalising sunrise yoga ritual designed to awaken the body, mind and spirit.
This early morning practice begins with Shakti Flow, an energising sequence that builds warmth, vitality and clarity through breath and movement.
A dynamic morning practice based on the traditional Anahata Yoga system. This class includes asana, pranayama and the Five Element Form to balance the body, breath and mind.
When the weather is clear, the practice takes place outdoors at Broken Head Beach, where we move with the rhythm of the rising sun through the Five Element Form (Tattwa Shuddhi Sadhana). Practicing in nature with the ocean and the elements brings a deep sense of grounding, balance and renewal. The session is often followed by an optional ocean swim — a refreshing and uplifting way to begin the day.
When the weather is rainy or windy, the class is held in the warmth and sanctuary of the Shiva & Shakti Yoga Shala, where we continue the practice indoors.
Because the location depends on the weather, bookings are essential, and the meeting location will be confirmed before class.
A deeply nourishing way to welcome the day.
A beautiful way to greet the sunrise and begin the day in Byron Bay.

TUESDAY (9:00-10:30AM)
A gentle flowing Vinyasa Hatha practice based on the principles of Anahata Yoga, inviting students to experience the union of breath, movement and the heart.
In this practice we explore the Dance of Shiva and Shakti, a dynamic expression of Hatha Yoga. The word Hatha combines two Sanskrit syllables: “Ha” meaning the sun and “Tha” meaning the moon, symbolising the union of these two complementary forces within us.
Classes include asana, pranayama, meditation and philosophical insight, guiding students toward balance, awareness and inner stillness.
In the yogic tradition, Shiva represents pure consciousness, often associated with the crown centre (Sahasrara Chakra), while Shakti represents the living creative energy, the Kundalini, resting at the base of the spine (Muladhara Chakra). Through the practice of Hatha Yoga, these two energies are gradually awakened and brought into harmony.
This practice invites the rising of Shakti to meet Shiva, a sacred union often described as a lovers’ dance — a creative interplay between awareness and energy. Through flowing movement, breath and presence, students are encouraged to approach the practice with joy, grace and playfulness, remembering that yoga is ultimately a path of union.
Suitable for all levels, this class offers a gentle yet enlivening flow that nurtures strength, balance and inner connection.
Open to all levels.
Taught by Peter Clifford and Faye Maramara.

Through these traditional yogic practices, students are gently guided to calm the nervous system, quiet the mind and cultivate deeper states of relaxation, inner awareness and connection to the heart.

Earth — stability and grounding
Water — fluidity and adaptability
