Classes are welcoming to all levels and offer a space for both beginners and dedicated practitioners to deepen their practice.

SENIORS & BEGINNER'S YOGA

MONDAY & FRIDAY (8:00-9:30AM)

A gentle and supportive class designed to introduce the foundations of yoga in a safe and accessible way.

This practice focuses on the fundamentals of asana, breath and mindful movement, helping students develop strength, mobility and confidence at their own pace. The class is particularly supportive for beginners and for older students who wish to maintain flexibility, balance and overall wellbeing.

The practice is thoughtfully adapted to honour the unique needs of the body as it ages, supporting vitality, longevity and healthy movement throughout life.

Using props and mindful movement, we focus on stretching, breath and relaxation. Suitable for beginners, seniors and anyone seeking a slower, therapeutic approach to yoga.

This class is guided by Peter Clifford, an 80-year-young master yogi with over 60 years of practice and teaching, who embodies the living benefits of lifelong yoga.

Gentle yoga for strength, mobility and lifelong wellbeing.

No prior yoga experience required.

Taught by Peter Clifford.

Gentle restorative yoga

MONDAY & FRIDAY (9:30-11:00AM)

Gentle Restorative Yoga is a deeply nourishing practice designed to calm the nervous system, soften the body and invite a sense of inner balance and wellbeing. This class offers a slower and more supportive approach to practice, creating space to rest, breathe and reconnect with yourself.

Through gentle movement, restorative postures, mindful breathing and guided relaxation, students are encouraged to release physical tension, quiet the mind and cultivate greater awareness within. Props may be used to support the body comfortably in each posture, allowing the practice to be accessible, grounding and deeply restorative.

This class is especially supportive for beginners, mature students, those recovering from stress or fatigue, or anyone seeking a softer and more meditative pace of yoga. Rather than striving or pushing, the emphasis is on relaxation, presence and listening to the wisdom of the body.

Practiced in the peaceful atmosphere of our shala in Suffolk Park, Byron Bay, Gentle Restorative Yoga offers an opportunity to slow down from the busyness of everyday life and return to a place of stillness, breath and inner connection.

All levels are welcome.

Open for all levels.

Taught by Peter Clifford

ANAHATA YOGA flow

TUESDAY (9:00-10:30AM)

A gentle flowing Vinyasa Hatha practice based on the principles of Anahata Yoga, inviting students to experience the union of breath, movement and the heart.

In this practice we explore the Dance of Shiva and Shakti, a dynamic expression of Hatha Yoga. The word Hatha combines two Sanskrit syllables: “Ha” meaning the sun and “Tha” meaning the moon, symbolising the union of these two complementary forces within us.

Classes include asana, pranayama, meditation and philosophical insight, guiding students toward balance, awareness and inner stillness.

In the yogic tradition, Shiva represents pure consciousness, often associated with the crown centre (Sahasrara Chakra), while Shakti represents the living creative energy, the Kundalini, resting at the base of the spine (Muladhara Chakra). Through the practice of Hatha Yoga, these two energies are gradually awakened and brought into harmony.

This practice invites the rising of Shakti to meet Shiva, a sacred union often described as a lovers’ dance — a creative interplay between awareness and energy. Through flowing movement, breath and presence, students are encouraged to approach the practice with joy, grace and playfulness, remembering that yoga is ultimately a path of union.

Suitable for all levels, this class offers a gentle yet enlivening flow that nurtures strength, balance and inner connection.

Open to all levels.

Taught by Peter Clifford and Faye Maramara.

MEDITATION & YOGA NIDRA

 TUESDAY (6:30-8:00PM)

A quiet and nourishing practice rooted in the Anahata Yoga tradition, designed to bring the body, breath and mind into a state of balance and stillness.

This class includes Pranayama, seated meditation, Yoga Nidra and Yoga Nyasa — a self-healing meditation that works with awareness and subtle energy within the body.

Through these traditional yogic practices, students are gently guided to calm the nervous system, quiet the mind and cultivate deeper states of relaxation, inner awareness and connection to the heart.

Suitable for all levels, including those who are new to meditation as well as experienced practitioners wishing to deepen their practice.

Open to all levels.

Taught by Peter Clifford.

5 ELEMENT FORM

WEDNESDAY (9:00-10:30AM)

Tattwa Shuddhi Sadhana (Purification Practice)

A dynamic and meditative practice based on the Five Element Form, known in the Anahata Yoga tradition as Tattwa Shuddhi Sadhana, the practice of purification and balance through the elements.

This flowing sequence explores the qualities of the five elements that exist both in nature and within the body:

Earth — stability and grounding
Water — fluidity and adaptability
Fire — creativity and transformative energy
Air — vitality and expansion
Akasha — space, awareness and connection

Through movement, breath and awareness, the practice invites a harmonious balance of these elemental forces, bringing a sense of vitality, clarity and inner equilibrium.

Suitable for all levels.

Open to all levels.

Taught by Peter Clifford & Faye Maramara.

Yin Yoga & Crystal Bowl Sound Healing

WEDNESDAY (6:30-8:00PM)

A deeply nourishing practice combining the quiet stillness of Yin Yoga with crystal bowl sound healing offered by Faye during Śavāsana.

Yin Yoga is a slow and meditative practice in which supported, floor-based postures are held gently for several minutes. Rather than striving or pushing, students are invited to soften into each pose, allowing the body time to release deeply held tension and gradually develop greater mobility and flexibility.

As the body becomes still, attention naturally turns inward. The longer holds create space to connect with the breath, quieten the mind and cultivate a deeper awareness of the body’s subtle sensations. Props are available to support each posture, allowing students to practise comfortably and according to their individual needs.

The class concludes with an extended Śavāsana, where Faye offers a deeply restful crystal bowl sound healing. As you lie supported in stillness, the pure, resonant tones and gentle vibrations of the crystal singing bowls create a peaceful and immersive atmosphere, inviting the body and mind into a deeper state of rest.

This combination of Yin Yoga and sound may support:

  • The release of physical and emotional tension
  • Greater flexibility, mobility and ease within the body
  • Deep relaxation and nervous-system regulation
  • A quieter and calmer mind
  • Mindful awareness and inner stillness
  • Restful sleep and an overall sense of wellbeing

Suitable for all levels, including complete beginners. No previous experience of yoga, meditation or sound healing is required.

Open to all levels.

Taught by Peter Clifford & Faye Maramara.

Yoga with Peter

THURSDAY (9:00-10:30AM)

A gentle, supportive and individually adapted yoga class for people with specific needs.

Yoga with Peter is designed for students who may benefit from a slower, more personalised approach to yoga. It may be especially helpful for people recovering from injury or illness, experiencing limited mobility, managing stiffness or ongoing physical challenges, or returning to movement after time away from exercise.

Drawing upon more than sixty years of yoga practice and teaching, Peter works with the individual needs and abilities of each student. Rather than following a fixed sequence, the class is thoughtfully adapted to those attending on the day.

Practices may include gentle seated and standing movements, Chair Yoga, supported postures, breathing practices, relaxation and the use of props. Students are encouraged to work comfortably and at their own pace, with guidance offered to make each practice accessible, steady and enjoyable.

The class aims to support:

  • Greater mobility, flexibility and ease of movement
  • Improved balance, stability and coordination
  • Gentle strengthening of the body
  • Better posture and body awareness
  • Confidence when returning to movement
  • Relaxation and nervous-system wellbeing
  • A deeper connection between breath, body and mind

This class is suitable for seniors, beginners, people recovering from injury, and anyone who finds a general yoga class too fast, physically demanding or difficult to modify. You do not need to be flexible or have any previous yoga experience.

Where appropriate, students may practise from a chair or use the chair for additional stability and support. Others may work on a yoga mat with carefully selected variations. Peter creates a welcoming environment where every student can participate according to their own capacity—without pressure, comparison or expectation.

If you are recovering from an injury, have recently had surgery, or are living with a significant health condition, please contact us before attending so we can discuss whether the class is appropriate for you. We also recommend seeking guidance from your healthcare professional when necessary.

Open to all levels.

Taught by Peter Clifford.

RESTORATIVE YOGA

 THURSDAY (6:30-8:00PM)

A deeply gentle and nurturing yoga practice designed to support the body in complete rest and relaxation.

Using supportive props such as blankets, bolsters and blocks, the body is comfortably held in restful postures that allow the nervous system to settle and the mind to become calm and quiet.

This practice encourages deep relaxation, helping to relieve stress, restore balance to the nervous system and create a sense of ease and comfort within the body.

Suitable for all levels, and especially supportive for those seeking rest, recovery and renewal.

Open to all levels.

Taught by Peter Clifford & Faye Maramara.

HATHA YOGA

SATURDAY (8:00-9:30AM)

A traditional Hatha Yoga practice guided by the principles of Anahata Yoga, exploring the harmonious balance of Shiva and Shakti, often described as the sacred dance between consciousness and energy.

Through mindful movement, breath and awareness, this practice cultivates strength, stability and inner balance while gently opening the body and quieting the mind.

Rooted in classical Hatha Yoga, the practice invites students to move with presence and ease, allowing the body, breath and mind to come into greater harmony.

Suitable for all levels.

Open to all levels.

Taught by Peter Clifford & Faye Maramara.

We welcome you to practice with us and explore the path of Anahata Yoga in a space of presence, balance and inner connection.
